Work Pro Bono: Increase your knowledge of Afghanistan-Pakistan

 

The Global Pashtun Institute for Peace and Democracy (GPIPD) is a U.S  based  non-profit (501c-3), non-governmental and non-partisan organization concentrated mainly on research, analysis and policy recommendation relating to Southwest Asia, especially the conflict ridden countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

 

GPIPD offers a number of unpaid internships at its office in Washington D.C. area. Interns will have a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience on issues related to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, which has become one of the top priorities of the incumbent U.S. Administration. Persons who are looking for building a perspective and understanding of issues in Southwest Asia are encouraged to apply.

 

Interns will work on a number of issues, related  to the  Afghanistan -Pakistan region including transitional societies, conflict resolution, research, human rights, peace and non-violence, women development programs, public relations, grass root outreach, events planning, administration, IT related jobs and fund raising.

 

Interns will have an opportunity to attend meetings and seminars as well as other professional development events. GPIPD may arrange academic credits for the interns.

 

Interns are required to have interest in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region in particular and in Southwest Asia in general; must possess basic computer knowledge; have a commitment to work for 15 hours a week at the minimum; have strong communication, interpersonal, oral and written skills; and ability to work independently.

 

Candidates with a background or knowledge of issues pertaining to Southwest Asia, especially Afghanistan-Pakistan region, experience or background in human rights, political science, international relations, research, proposal/grant writing, public relations, meeting/event planning and/or administration will be preferred.

 

Interns are selected on the basis of content and needs of the GPIPD.
